Weddings all the year round

The weather can play a role in the way we plan your wedding. The season can also provide activities for you and your guests around the time of your wedding, or for you to enjoy during your honeymoon here too.

To start, we've chosen venues that are beautiful inside and out so that they're suitable all the year round. During the winter months they are heated and offer cosy fires and views of amazing snowy mountains. From Spring onwards the rural landscape takes on a real beauty providing warm sunshine and fantastic photo opportunities. In the hot summer months there's always lots of shade in gardens and terraces under romantic gazebos and white parasols. In Autumn the vineyards in Abruzzo turn golden and provide a stunning backdrop for your photos.

Climate

Forget long dreary winters and tepid summers - here you'll get plenty of sunshine! Rome and Abruzzo benefit from the warm climate of southern Europe without the extreme heat experienced in the far south of Italy. Usually there are clear changes in the weather from one season to the next - moderately cold winters, warm sunny springs, hot summers and warm sunny autumns. Having said that of course we can't guarantee the weather!

Abruzzo's annual weather and temperatures are affected by its two distinct climates - the weather along its Adriatic Coast and that created by the massive Apennine mountains that run down the spine of Italy and that sit between Rome and Abruzzo.

The landscape changes with the seasons

In winter the massive snow capped peaks nearby provide skiing and a stunning backdrop against an often clear blue sky. There is usually some snowfall at lower levels too but it rarely lasts long. Generally the temperature is colder in January and February whilst the weather before Christmas can be very pleasant.

Spring brings warm sunshine and sometimes showers and the countryside bursts into life, the air perfumed with Acacia trees. Late May is magical because you'll see the arrival of the fireflies that come out at dusk like a thousand fairy lights - an experience you'll never forget.

From June onwards the summer arrives and it's usually hot in July and August. This is the time to relax on the beach or in the shade during the day and take a siesta in the afternoon. In the balmy evening temperatures you can stroll in the local towns, enjoying an ice cream or something stronger !

Temperatures cool down from September onwards but it's still usually very warm and you can enjoy being out and about during the day. The landscape becomes an amazing coloured tapestry as the vineyards go from yellow to orange and red. This is a busy time for harvesting precious grapes from September onwards and olives from late October.

Festivals

Italy is renowned for its festivals and Abruzzo has its fair share. They take place throughout the year, but in particular from Easter onwards and they are always free to everyone. Towns put on parades, speciality markets, celebrations of seasonal foods, concerts and lots of firework displays. At the end of May all the local vineyards open their cantinas for wine tasting, although this is also something we can arrange for you to do at any time. We can let you know which special events are taking place around the time you plan to get married.
